BIOGRAPHY

Jeila Irdmusa is a Persian-American soprano from McLean, Virginia. She currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Jeila graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from The Boston Conservatory in 2013. Right out of her undergrad, Jeila developed a show with Grammy-nominated composer Deborah Henson-Conant called "Mythic Women: Stories for Soprano & Chamber Ensemble." Collaborating with instrumentalists from the Boston University, Jeila starred in this concert of stories (a song cycle, and a one-woman opera.) Mythic Women was affiliated with National Chamber Music Month, kicking it off on May 1st, 2014. ArtsFuse called the performances "excellent" and Jeila "riveting."

Led by a passion to learn about all facets of her art form, Jeila has gained four years of experience working in Arts Administration.  In her time at Boston Conservatory, Jeila worked in the Music Division office, the Dean's Office, Concert Services, and as an assistant to Operatic Conductor, Andrew Altenbach. She currently works as a Marketing and Communications assistant for singer-songwriter and voice teacher Celia Slattery. Jeila just recently joined the staff of The Boston New Music Initiative, where she will be working as an Artistic Associate to Artistic Director Patrick Valentino.

Inclined toward the risky, challenging, and subversive, Jeila is passionate about new music and new art. A lover of the creative process, Jeila enjoys writing, dancing, acting, conceptualizing, expressing, and connecting. She believes performing to be an ecstatic celebration of our humanness- an act of love so big that it spills over into sound.
